Metso has introduced a new global webinar series – Packed with Performance – with dedicated streams for mining and aggregates customers. Already underway, the webinar series will cover topics related to customer challenges, processes, and applications in these industries.

Metso’s latest mobile screen, the Lokotrack ST2.3, is about to hit our shores, with the first unit set to arrive in New Zealand in July 2020.

Mike Blair from KB Contracting & Quarries has been in business long enough to know a good machine when he finds one. With the Christchurch company enjoying a 45-year history in the earthworks and aggregates businesses, Mike and his father – company founder, Kevin and brother David – before him have learnt that the key to successfully diversifying is trusting in good gear and good guys.

KB operates two quarries to the west of the city; one at Miners Road, where they have been for the past 25 years, and a new 250 acre operation at McLeans Island, which came on-stream at the end of 2014. “We’ve also been at the Burwood Landfill for about 35 years,” says Mike. “That’s been a good consistent contract to have, although during the earthquakes it all went pretty crazy; all the liquefaction slurry went in there, so we’d have 20 or 30 truck and trailers dumping slurry at a time, with another 30 or 40 trucks out on the haul roads waiting to come in.”

MIMICO, along with sister-company Crane Sales New Zealand, have expanded their capacity after the purchase of a new site in Matamata.

The site, on the corner of Waihou Street and Rockfield Place on the outskirts of the rural Waikato town, was the previous home of Rocktec. It is almost next door to MIMICO’s headquarters, which is also based on Waihou Street.

Crane Sales New Zealand and MIMICO Engineering have moved into the facility, while MIMICO’s crushing and screening team will also be based there. Along with offices and large workshop, the facility also contains some serious yard space.

The first Metso Nordtrack, a Nordtrack I908S impact crusher, has arrived at MIMICO’s Matamata facility. MIMICO distributes Metso’s range of mobile and fixed crushing and screening equipment, parts and service in New Zealand.

A new venture for Russ Hardy and Bill Dawe has meant the opportunity to invest in brand new scalping and screening equipment.

Operating from two quarry sites in northern New South Wales, East Coast Decorative Stone & Sand has ensured it will have requisite production capacity from the get go, with a new Sandvik QA451 triple deck screen and Sandvik QE342 scalper, both of which add to a fleet of Porter Equipment sourced machinery.
