Brent Whyte has been in the gold mining business for years now. He’s been a shareholder in Whyte Gold for the past 14 years, and his latest venture is CMR Mining.

The firm set to work three years ago at a new site in Notown Valley, one of the feeder valleys into Grey Valley on the gold-rich West Coast.

Here, CMR Mining processes up to 500 cubic yards of material a day in its hunt for gold.

TransDiesel Ltd has purchased Translog Limited in Nelson, as of 1st April 2019.

Translog Services Ltd was formed in 1992 as a parts & service company operating in the Nelson / Marlborough region and in 1996 Rowan & Julie Coutts purchased the business from the original owners.

In 2006 Translog Services Ltd relocated to its current site with the construction of a large purpose-built workshop in Brightwater alongside State Highway 6. Translog developed into a leading construction and forestry maintenance business and as a trading dealership for TransDiesel, held service agencies for Volvo and Yanmar construction equipment.

At HG Leach & Co’s Matatoki Quarry, just south of Thames on New Zealand’s North Island, their mobile crushing spread is in full flight. HG Leach has partnered with MIMICO to provide the company with the capability to manufacture various grades of sealing chip in a completely mobile operation.

The operation at Matatoki is set up in two parts. “The initial unit consists of a Metso LT106 jaw crusher, a Metso LT200HP cone crusher and a Metso ST2.4 mobile screen, which are manufacturing the feed stock to then go to the mobile chip circuit,” explained Garth Taylor, MIMICO’s Crushing & Screening Business Manager.

Mix Up Concrete is a relatively new name in the Tauranga construction market, but is made up of some familiar faces. It was established in September last year by Kyle O’Brian, owner of Base Up Concrete Construction, in a 50:50 partnership with HR Cement.

The results are now in and they are even better than expected. The tests showed a 98% reduction in carbon emissions, a 70% reduction in energy cost and a 40% reduction in operator cost.

An increasing workload has seen KB Contracting & Quarries expand and upgrade the equipment in its operations, recently buying a new Sandvik crusher and screen, a Hyundai loader and a Bomag roller from Porters in Christchurch.

With a self-explanatory name, KB Contracting & Quarries does exactly that – contracting and quarrying. Based in Christchurch, the firm has been in business for 40 years.
