TransDiesel Ltd has purchased Translog Limited in Nelson, as of 1st April 2019.

Translog Services Ltd was formed in 1992 as a parts & service company operating in the Nelson / Marlborough region and in 1996 Rowan & Julie Coutts purchased the business from the original owners.

In 2006 Translog Services Ltd relocated to its current site with the construction of a large purpose-built workshop in Brightwater alongside State Highway 6. Translog developed into a leading construction and forestry maintenance business and as a trading dealership for TransDiesel, held service agencies for Volvo and Yanmar construction equipment.

At HG Leach & Co’s Matatoki Quarry, just south of Thames on New Zealand’s North Island, their mobile crushing spread is in full flight. HG Leach has partnered with MIMICO to provide the company with the capability to manufacture various grades of sealing chip in a completely mobile operation.

The operation at Matatoki is set up in two parts. “The initial unit consists of a Metso LT106 jaw crusher, a Metso LT200HP cone crusher and a Metso ST2.4 mobile screen, which are manufacturing the feed stock to then go to the mobile chip circuit,” explained Garth Taylor, MIMICO’s Crushing & Screening Business Manager.

Mix Up Concrete knows that to secure a steady supply of concrete to its customers, having the right machinery – efficient and reliable – is an essential part of its operation, and Porter Group came up trumps.

Mix Up Concrete is a relatively new name in the Tauranga construction market, but is made up of some familiar faces. It was established in September last year by Kyle O’Brian, owner of Base Up Concrete Construction, in a 50:50 partnership with HR Cement.

Mix Up has taken over the plant and staff of Bridgman Concrete, and is operating out of the old Bridgman site in Greerton while a brand new facility is built in Tauriko. The new facility will be capable of producing 80 cubic metres of concrete an hour.

Volvo Construction Equipment and its customer Skanska have recorded groundbreaking results from their Electric Site research project – including a 98% reduction in carbon emissions, a 70% reduction in energy cost and a 40% reduction in operator cost.

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) and its customer Skanska have been testing the viability of the Electric Site research project over the last 10 weeks at Skanska’s Vikan Kross quarry, near Gothenburg, Sweden. The results are now in and they are even better than expected. The tests showed a 98% reduction in carbon emissions, a 70% reduction in energy cost and a 40% reduction in operator cost.

Metso unveiled the new machine at last year’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG global trade show in Las Vegas. Matamata Industrial Machinery Imports Ltd (MIMICO) has been appointed as the sole New Zealand distributor for Superior Industries’ washing systems and conveying equipment.

An increasing workload has seen KB Contracting & Quarries expand and upgrade the equipment in its operations, recently buying a new Sandvik crusher and screen, a Hyundai loader and a Bomag roller from Porters in Christchurch.

With a self-explanatory name, KB Contracting & Quarries does exactly that – contracting and quarrying. Based in Christchurch, the firm has been in business for 40 years.

The contracting side specialises in new urban road construction and reconstruction work – something they’ve been getting plenty of in the years since the earthquakes did so much damage to the city’s infrastructure. The contracting side is backed by the company’s quarry operations, which it uses to source and process aggregates.
